|
[ETA: I hadn't realized that this entry had been daily_snitched until very recently, so I wanted to apologize to anyone whom I may have inadvertantly offended with the language. I curse like a sailor in RL, and this was written on a rather spur-of-the-moment basis. In my own defense, however, I did warn for language in the cut tag, although that warning didn't get carried over to the daily_snitch. So, again, sorry if I've offended anyone with my potty mouth. ;-)]
( Cut for length and for R-rated language, not because I think it is remotely possible to "spoil" something this inherently rotten. )
This hasn't been "researched," as such, except for looking up Snape's Worst Memory for comparison. It's not my intention here to argue the finer points of canon, because that would require re-reading DH, and I am most certainly not up for that (and probably won't be any time soon). Therefore I'm sure a number of my conclusions are erroneous. But frankly, I don't care. I'm angry, and I wanted to get it out of my system, so that I can hopefully (someday) let it go. And now I'm going to go do something more productive than rant. ;-)

Ever wanted to relive a day of your life?
You know exactly where things went wrong, and if you'd done one little thing differently, it would have turned out all right. You've replayed the events countless times in your mind, and if you'd just said this, or done that, now everything would be so much better. We all have regrets, but for most of us, a second chance is not an option.
With magic, however, almost anything is possible. |

Operation Redo is an AU Harry Potter game that combines the Trio and Marauders eras by sending sixteen students from the books into the past. We've been around since 2004, but we've just reopened for the new year, after clearing the backstory for all of our missing characters. Therefore, we have many characters up for adoption. The game is het/slash/femslash/adult content friendly, though we concentrate on plot rather than 'ships.
( Detailed Premise )
There are still a lot of important roles that we would like to see filled, including:
Terry Boot Michael Corner Bellatrix Black Lestrange Rabastan Lestrange Rodolphus Lestrange Frank Longbottom Luna Lovegood Ernie Macmillan Lucius Malfoy Padma Patil Fabian Prewett Zacharias Smith

2:00 pm - Yet Another Snape Theory
|
First off, I want to wish tillytilly a happy birthday. And second, I have a theory ... Most of you have probably been wondering why I haven't chimed in about Snape's loyalties post-HBP. Well, I've been sitting on this theory for a while now, mostly because I expected someone else to come up with the same thing and save me the trouble (heh), and because I also wanted to use it in my schizophrenic!Snape fic, but I won't be to that point in the story for a while. Instead, after testing this out in we_trust_snape yesterday, and doing a little last-minute tweaking, I decided to finally post. So here it is:
( Theory: Why Snape's killing Dumbledore was A Good Thing )
( Corollary: Snape's new responsibility )
So anyway ... that's my theory (and corollary). Please feel free to rip it apart. I'm sure I'm missing something, because I always do, but I would still trust Snape, even if I hadn't come up with this. Of course, if this theory helps to convince some others, then all the better. ;-)

4:30 pm - An ode to writing...
|
For a while there, I'd forgotten just how good writing feels, but since Labor Day, I've really had a chance to remember. :-D Since my surgery (just removing my gallbladder nothing super major), I have gotten a promotion at work. Instead of being a student worker/technician, I am now a full-time chemist with benefits and all that (yay!). Unfortunately, it was a month too late to cover my surgery, but I'm making way more than I used to, and I'm optimistic that I'll have those pesky medical bills paid off before I know it. :-)
And now that I don't have homework in addition to a full-time job, I have a little free time. O.O I'd almost forgotten what free time felt like, too. But it feels good! So, I finally got off my butt and edited my schizophrenic!Snape story to comply with HBP, and now I've managed to bang out two and a half new chapters. Sometimes it's amazing what taking a break from a fic (but usually not two years) will do. God, I missed writing. Really! *hugs friendlist* Now it's back to writing for me. *squees!*
P. S. Does anyone out there besides me and jezebel_haddo watch Naruto? And if so, does anyone out there love Rock Lee as much as I do? *cuddles her Rock Lee plushie (or would, if she weren't still at work)*

Is anyone out there interested in nitpicking the next couple of chapters of my schizophrenic!Snape story? I've been busily editing the previous chapters for compliance with HBP on my breaks ever since I started my new job (more on that later), and I've spent a large portion of Labor Day weekend writing/rewriting the next two chapters much to my girlfriend's chagrin. *blushes* (They were actually supposed to be one chapter, but what can I say? I got inspired. :-D)
I know it's been forever since I've updated that fic, but I never planned to have it fall by the wayside. Just ... y'know, real life. I still want to post the HBP-edited chapters (or rather, edit the old posts and link to them) first, in case someone who hasn't been keeping up with the fic wants to volunteer, and ... well, because it has been over two years since I updated. *blushes more* A refresher might be a good thing. Anyway ... so if anyone is interested, leave a comment here, and I'll add you to the filter.

2:07 pm - I got your update right here!
|
Recently, raendrop gave me a nudge to remind me I haven't updated in, like, forever. So, since this is timely, I thought I'd get off my tookus and post.
If you've seen this already on your f-list ... well, I'm not going to apologize for the repeat. Because, basically, if this abomination manages to pass, none of us (Yanks, at least) may have the opportunity to see the same thing on our f-lists a dozen times, ever again. Therefore, we all need to call, write, and e-mail or visit, if possible our Senators and Representatives* to let them know how furious we will be if they vote for this thing, or how furious we are that they did vote for it, respectively.
...And since I'm at work, that's really all I have time to say, except, yeah, I'm still alive. :-)
*Yes, our Representatives, too. See, 'cause even if this thing passes in the Senate, the bill will still have to visit a conference committee to iron out the differences between the two versions, and then both houses of Congress will have to vote on the new version again. If our Reps know how displeased we are, they will be less likely to vote yes a second time. In other words, the fat lady ain't singing just yet, but she's warming up backstage. And by the way, politicians will pay more attention if you call them than write (snail mail), and more if you write than e-mail (I plan to do all three). Physically visiting will make them sit up and take the most notice, but that's probably not feasible for most of us when Congress is in session. If you're gonna be in D.C. anyway, though ... ;-)

10:58 pm - Checking in (briefly):
|
As both tillytilly and iibnf have reminded me recently (and by recently, I mean some time in the past month), I haven't been around much lately. Grad school is taking it's toll, but the good news is, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Only one more semester to go! After that, maybe I can have some semblance of a life again. I hope, anyway. And I've actually been bitten by the research bug, too! I actually want to work on my research project now, but that's probably only because I don't want to study for biochem. *coughs*
So, fandom stuff: I loved HBP. Really. Apart from PoA, which will always have a special place in my heart, HBP is my favorite of the books. I have a couple of theories surprise, surprise! though everybody else has probably discussed the same exact things already. And since I still need to cross check my references before I have anything postable (the old memory isn't as sharp as it used to be), I'll spare everybody for the time being.
Before I disappear again, a few quick plugs: Operation Redo is looking for players. I play Snape (journal subtitle and bio contain HBP spoilers be warned), Wormtail, McGonagall, and Arthur Weasley (plus Charlie and Percy, until they're old enough to have players of their own). Also, here's some cute art. (The last one is not work safe, but Snape cock! Yum!)
I, er, probably won't have time to respond to comments, but I thought I'd let my f-list collectively know that I'm still alive. *hugs* That is all.
[EDIT: Actually, I lied. That isn't all. I was re-reading Snape's page on the HP Lexicon the other day, and something struck me: They said Spinner's End was "in what appears to be a rundown area of an industrial city in northern England (HBP2)." Now, I love the Lexicon don't get me wrong but it seems (to me, at least) that they sometimes pull stuff out of their arses. My question is, why northern England? Why not, say, London or Manchester or Liverpool, or even Glasgow or Cardiff, for that matter? Surely those cities also have industrial areas. Did I miss the memo on this? Any insight would be appreciated.]

Title: The Best Your Father Can Give You Rating: PG-13 Summary: If this is what it means to be a woman, Ginny isn't sure she wants any part of it. Written for violet_quill's The Voices and Vaginas of HP Women Challenge. Warnings: Not happy Weasleycest, and mostly un-beta'd only because I really haven't had the time to discuss things with dphearson to the extent that I would like (so this is subject to changing without warning). And I probably won't be able to respond to feedback as well as I would like, either. It's nothing personal, really. It's just the RL blues.

12:29 pm - Dear God, what have I done?!?
|
I updated this entry last night and crossed out a few names. Although Back to the Beginning still needs lots of players, Lucius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy, and Harry Potter have now been claimed.
"Why does this elicit such a subject line, then?" you might ask. "This is good news, isn't it?" Well, frankly because ... I applied to play Harry. *facepalm* What was I thinking? Umm ... so, yeah. I'm Harry now. Er ... *facepalm*
hazelnut3 said this will be good for me, and I know she's right. After all, you never really know a person until you've walked in his shoes. I mean, I didn't really understand Snape until I'd written a novel-length story from his POV. So I'll don some Gryffindor trainers and see what I can learn from this. *facepalm*

hazelnut3 wanted to RP some Snape/Lupin smut with me tonight, and I wanted to RP some Snape/Draco smut with her ... but unfortunately, it was too late when we both got online. We still had the urge, however, so we short-handed it:
( Snape/Lupin "smut" )
( Snape/Draco "smut" )
This is why I love hazelnut3. Only she would put up with such unmitigated silliness from me. Hehe.
[EDIT: Oh, and go read this: By Cock They Are to Blame, by violet_quill (Harry/Draco, NC-17). I really needed that, after working on the latest chapter of Though This Be Madness. Oi vey!]

10:26 pm - Oops! I did it again!
|
...Thankfully my Britney Spears imitation is sorely lacking. But by that I mean I've joined another RPG: Back to the Beginning, which is a Marauder-Era game, but with a twist. The short version is, the war with Voldemort ended badly, and Dumbledore with his dying wish cast a spell designed to correct the mistakes of the past. As a result, sixteen Hogwarts students of the present day (1998) were transported back in time (to 1977), in order to set things right. So it's very AU, but an intriguing concept, nevertheless.
I applied to play Snape, of course, but not surprisingly, I'm posting because we need more players. ;-) Among those currently available are:
Future Students:†
Harry Potter (Gryffindor, 7th)
Draco Malfoy (Slytherin, 7th) Pansy Parkinson (Slytherin, 7th) Terry Boot (Ravenclaw, 7th) Luna Lovegood (Ravenclaw, 6th) Hannah Abbott (Hufflepuff, 7th) Susan Bones (Hufflepuff, 7th) Ernie Macmillan (Hufflepuff, 7th) Zacharias Smith (Hufflepuff, 6th)
Normal Students:
Frank Longbottom (Gryffindor, 7th) Gideon Prewett (Gryffindor, 6th) Bill Weasley (Gryffindor, 2nd) Regulus Black (Slytherin, 6th) Rabastan Lestrange (Slytherin, 6th) Kingsley Shacklebolt (Ravenclaw, 7th) Emmaline Vance (Ravenclaw, 7th) Hestia Jones (Ravenclaw, 6th) Dedalus Diggle (Hufflepuff, 7th) Amelia Bones (Hufflepuff, 6th) Mundungus Fletcher (Hufflepuff‡, 6th) Fabian Prewett (Hufflepuff, 6th)
Staff/Adults:
Lucius Malfoy
Narcissa Black Malfoy Minerva McGonagall Alastor Moody Sturgis Podmore
Rita Skeeter Ted Tonks Arthur Weasley
This game also allows OCs, and there are also plenty of other names I didn't bother to copy and paste. Plus, you only have to post every two weeks, so it shouldn't be too awfully time-consuming. If you're interested, the application can be found here.
†Some of the future students (namely the purebloods) have had their surnames changed in the game, so as not to arouse suspicions. Not that it's helping all that much. ;-)
‡I kinda disagree with this sorting. Ole Dung strikes me as very Slytherin, but that's just MHO.

5:10 pm - For anyone who might think they've missed the boat...
|
Essence Divided is still looking for players. But the mods have made a couple of decisions recently. One is, due to plenty of plot but a lack of people to carry out that plot, the game will be going on hiatus for a bit, until we get some more of the slots filled. So there is still plenty of time to work on an application, if you're so inclined. Characters still available include, but are not limited to, the following:
Lord Voldemort Hermione Granger Bellatrix Lestrange Luna Lovegood Lucius Malfoy Minerva McGonagall Peter Pettigrew Harry Potter Kingsley Shacklebolt
The other decision the mods have made is to move the game from GreatestJournal to LiveJournal. So if you've always hated GJ, we're now going to be an LJ-based game. Oh, and for anyone who expressed an interest in keeping up with my Snape's adventures, you can find the Greasy, Snarky One's journal here: nettle_wine.
